COA and CRN to Broadcast "Game of the Week"

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) and the Cable Radio Network (CRN) have announced plans to broadcast a "Game of the Week" football contest beginning September 22nd.

The broadcast schedule will begin when the Palomar Comets (#2) visit their Mission Conference rival Long Beach City College Vikings (#5) on Saturday, September 22nd at 1 p.m. PT. The season schedule will feature key-match-ups across the state, and is subject to change based on team rankings in the COA/CCCFCA football poll. The highlight of the broadcast schedule is the Hyundai California Community College Football Championship game on December 8th.

"This COA partnership with CRN is another step in our continued efforts to promote community college athletics", said COA Commissioner Joanne Fortunato. "It will allow us to showcase our fine programs, extend our marketing and branding to the general citizenry of the state and it fits in nicely with our past electronic efforts, such as television coverage of our COA championships and our website."

CRN, based in Los Angeles, can be found on the local access channel of your local cable provider. Presently, CRN is broadcast in 26 million homes nationwide, is listened to on the worldwide web at www.crni.net.

Future plans between the COA and CRN include a California Community College talk show. The program will broadcast news from all 23 COA sanctioned sports and will feature listener questions, interviews with community college players and coaches, conference updates and highlights from COA championship events.

A link to the "Game of the Week" will be established on the official COA website, www.coasports.org. A complete broadcast schedule will follow this release.
