California Community College Football Bowl Selection Announcement

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) will release the names of the 2002 California Community College football bowl game participants on the official COA website, www.coasports.org, no later than 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 24. The announcement will also be distributed via broadcast fax to California media outlets.

In addition, the bowl game participants will be listed at www.jcfootball.com, the website of COA corporate partner JCFootball.com. Telephone, fax and email inquiries will not be honored.

The 2002 California Community College football bowl games, with host site listed in parenthesis, are: Capital Shrine Bowl (Sacramento City College), Cerritos Strawberry Bowl (Cerritos College), East County Bowl (Los Medanos College), CLO Bowl (Santa Rosa Jr. College), Pacific Graffiti Bowl (Modesto Junior College), San Francisco Hawaiian Punch Bowl (City College of San Francisco), Shrine Potato Bowl (Bakersfield College), Silicon Valley Bowl (Foothill College), Southwestern College South County Bowl (Southwestern College), Tri Counties Bank Holiday Bowl (Butte College), U.S. Bank Beach Bowl (Santa Monica College), Verizon Southern California Bowl (Chaffey College) and Western State Bowl (TBA).

The top-ranked bowl game winners from the north and south regions will advance to the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship presented by Blue Diamond Growers and Bakersfield Sports Marketing Council on December 14, 2002 at Bakersfield College’s Memorial Stadium.
