Four uniquely different California cities
recently won bids to host upcoming COA championships in Fall 2002 and Winter 2003.
The cities of Los Alamitos, San Diego, Stockton and Bakersfield won the rights
to host the COA events based on bids submitted recently to the COA, which regularly
cultivates and solicits many of the state’s sports and business attraction agencies.

Agencies, Inc. Renaissance provides student health and intercollegiate sports
insurance, and is the first-ever COA partner in the "insurance" consumer category.
The terms of the agreement provide Renaissance with the designation of "Exclusive
Insurance Provider of the COA" through the 2004 calendar year.

The Commission on Athletics (COA) is responsible
for the administration of intercollegiate athletics at California’s 103 athletic-playing
community colleges. The commission has systematically increased the number of
sport opportunities for women and provided critical leadership to the state’s
two-year colleges.
"Since the 1950’s, the COA has strived to provide opportunities
to participate in intercollegiate athletics that effectively accommodate the
interests and abilities of students of both sexes. The COA has strongly advocated
that overall allocation of all benefits, opportunities, and treatment afforded
student athletes of each sex be equivalent," said COA state commissioner Joanne
