today named April Caddell (San Bernardino Valley College, women's track and
field) and Dan Goldberg (Saddleback College, men's baseball) the COA/U.S. Bank

April
Caddell, a sophomore heptathlete for the San Bernardino Valley College women's
track and field team, qualified for the Southern California Prelims in an extraordinary
seven different events with her performance at the Foothill Conference Championships
meet. Caddell set a SBVC school record by scoring 40 points out of the team's
74.5 at the conference finals held at San Bernardino April 29. Caddell placed
second in the 200 and 400 meter sprints, fifth in the long jump and high jump,
and sixth in the javelin. She also ran on the team's 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads.
Dan
Goldberg, a sophomore pitcher from Saddleback College, became the first

(since 1987) to throw a complete game, no-hitter. Goldberg allowed an unearned
run in Saddleback's 3-1 victory over visiting Fullerton College on April 20.
Goldberg allowed just one walk, a runner that would score in the sixth inning
after a passed ball and wild pitch. The right-hander struck out nine batters
and was aided by three sparkling catches in centerfield by teammate Matt Spotanski.
In the month of April, Goldberg finished 2-0 with a 3.07 ERA and 23 strikeouts
