COA Announces
U.S. Bank Student Athletes of the Month

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics (COA), in partnership with the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) today named Jennifer Laumea (Riverside Community College, water polo) and Yura Movsisyan (Pasadena City College, soccer) the COA/U.S. Bank Student Athletes of the Month for November.

Riverside Community College sophomore women's water polo player Jennifer Laumea was named Most Valuable Player at the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Water Polo Championship Presented by U.S. Bank in Fresno, CA. The Tigers, who won their first state championship in school history, posted a 36-1 record and defeated Long Beach City College, 7-5 in overtime in the state championship game. Laumea led the Tigers this season with 61 goals and added 31 assists and 65 steals on the year. For her efforts this season, Laumea was named an All-American, while she was a 2nd Team All-Southern California selection and earned 1st Team All-Orange Empire Conference recognition.

Pasadena City College freshman men's soccer player Yura Movsisyan, originally from Germany, moved to the United States with a desire to play professional soccer. After an All-Pacific League selection at Pasadena High, he joined the Lancers for the 2005 season. Movsisyan made All-South Coast Conference First Team this year. In a November 8 win over Compton, Movsisyan scored the 3-goal hat trick, including a spectacular shot while sprinting down the PCC Robinson Stadium (football field) sideline from 30 yards out. Movsisyan scored 18 goals this season and his 40 points was third best in the South Coast Conference and third highest scoring season in PCC soccer history. He scored more goals than the rest of his team combined (16).
