2005 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics
Football Bowl Selection Announcement
SACRAMENTO, CA .
. . The California Community Colleges
Commission on Athletics (COA) will announce the 2005 California Community College
football bowl game participants, as selected by the COA Football Bowl Game Selection
Committee, on the COA Web site, www.coasports.org, no later than 2:00 p.m. PT
on Sunday, November 13. The announcement will also be distributed to California
media outlets. Telephone, fax, and email inquiries will not be honored.
COA sanctioned regional
bowl games, with hosts in parenthesis, are:
November 19:
American Bowl (Mission Football Conference)
Bulldog Bowl (College of San Mateo)
East County Bowl (Los Medanos College)
Golden Empire Bowl (Bakersfield College)
Graffiti Bowl (Modesto Junior College)
National Bowl (Mission Football Conference)
Silicon Valley Bowl (Foothill College)
Southern California Bowl (Foothill Conference)
U.S. Bank Beach Bowl (Santa Monica College)
Western State Bowl (Western State Conference)
November 26:
Capital Shrine Bowl (Sacramento City College)
U.S. Bank Holiday Bowl (Butte College)
Southern California Semifinal Game 1 (Hosted by higher seed)
Southern California Semifinal Game 2 (Hosted by higher seed)
December 3:
San Francisco Hawaiian Punch Community College Bowl (City College of
San Francisco)
Producers Dairy Bowl (Fresno City College)
Southern California Championship Game (Hosted by higher seed)
December 10:
California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship
Presented by U.S. Bank at Grizzlies Stadium, Fresno, CA
In Northern California,
the COA Football Bowl Game Selection Committee will designate one of the Northern
California bowl games as the Northern California championship, to be contested
by the champions of the North Division conferences (Nor-Cal and Valley).
In Southern California,
four of the November 19 Southern California bowl games will be designated as
first-round playoff games by the Football Bowl Game Selection Committee. Regional
semifinal (November 26) and regional championship (December 3) games will be
hosted by the higher seed.
The winners of the Northern
California and Southern California championship playoff games will advance to
the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship
presented by U.S. Bank on December 10, 2005, at Grizzlies Stadium in Fresno,
California. The championship game is an official event of the inaugural 2005-06
COA Championship Festival. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
