COA and Pepsi Announce Partnership Renewal

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a partnership renewal with The Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG). The terms of the agreement provide Pepsi with the exclusive designation as "Official Beverage of the COA" through the 2009 calendar year. PBG became a COA corporate partner in 1999.

"We're very excited to continue our partnership with the COA," said Randy Quirk, Vice President of Foodservice for PBG's Pacific Northwest Business Unit. "Pepsi has a long history of sponsoring student athletic programs. This is a great opportunity for us to expand that support, while at the same time, making our great line-up of products available for the fans."

Pepsi will be featured at COA championship events, by way of signage rights, public address announcements, print advertising, and product distribution. In addition, PBG will serve as the title sponsor of the COA Pepsi Student Athlete celebration banquet, held in conjunction with the COA Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the annual COA Convention. The 2005 event will be held on April 7 at the Peppermill Hotel in Reno, NV. Visit www.coasports.org for COA Convention details.

In a partnership with the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), Pepsi is the title sponsor of the Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup Award, designed to recognize and reward overall program excellence at the two-year college level. COA colleges compete in the "State Associations Division" of the Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup Award program.

"The renewal agreement with Pepsi represents their continuing commitment to the COA and community college student athletes," said COA Commissioner Dr. Joanne Fortunato. "They have been, and continue to be, a true friend of the COA and we look forward to their continued support of COA state championship events and our annual student athlete celebration event."

The Pepsi Bottling Group (www.pbg.com) is the world's largest manufacturer, seller and distributor of Pepsi-Cola beverages with operations in the U.S., Canada, Greece, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
