Citi California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship Returns to Visalia in 2004

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced that the Citi California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship presented by Blue Diamond will be held at the Centex Homes Mineral King Bowl in Visalia, California on December 11, 2004 and be hosted by College of the Sequoias (COS), the City of Visalia, and the Giant Athletic Foundation.

The game, which will feature the top two teams advancing from the northern and southern California regional playoff rounds, is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.

“We are very excited about returning to the Visalia area. In addition to outstanding support from COS staff, we feel truly honored to have the support of the Giant Athletic Foundation and the local business community,” said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn.

Visalia's Mineral King Bowl Stadium was the site of the 2000 and 2001 California Community College Football Championships.

"The entire COS staff considers hosting this game a privilege and we are excited about winning the bid to draw the game back to Visalia in 2004," said College of the Sequoias Athletic Director Brent Calvin. "The 2000 and 2001 games allowed us to showcase our community to the thousands of fans attending the games."
