COA and Stretch Internet to Broadcast Fastpitch Softball Championship

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) will once again partner with Stretch Internet to broadcast the 2004 Citi California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Softball Championship at www.coasports.org via streaming audio technology.

The 2004 Citi California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Softball Championship will be hosted by Riverside Community College May 15-16. The COA and Stretch will broadcast all three games at this year’s championship. The schedule is as follows:

Saturday, May 15:
Game 1, Semifinal — Noon
Game 2, Semifinal — 3 p.m.

Sunday, May 16:
Championship Game - Noon

The 32-team playoff field begins regional competition on Wednesday May 5th. Second-round regional playoff games will be hosted by the highest remaining seeds May 8-9.

The broadcast will be available by visiting the women’s softball section of www.coasports.org.

Play-by-play and color commentary will be provided by members of the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA), a COA affiliate organization.

The COA made its Internet broadcast debut at the 2003 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletic Football Championship. In March 2004, the COA broadcast the semifinal and championship games of both the women’s and men’s California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Basketball Championships. Archived versions of all previous broadcasts are available at www.coasports.org.

Based in Fullerton, California, Stretch Internet produces athletic broadcasts using the latest in Internet technology. Stretch streams its broadcasts over QuickTime Player at rates that allow anyone with Internet access to listen, from the user on the high-bandwidth DSL or cable connection to the user who dials in on a modem connection.
