COA and Stretch Internet to Broadcast Basketball Championships

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) will once again partner with Stretch Internet to broadcast the 2004 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Basketball Championships presented by Magali Farms at www.coasports.org via streaming audio technology.

The 2004 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Women’s and Men’s Basketball Championships presented by Magali Farms will be played at the University of San Diego’s Jenny Craig Pavilion. The COA and Stretch will broadcast all six games at this year’s championship. The schedule is as follows:

Friday March 12: Women’s semifinals at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Men’s semifinals at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Saturday March 13: Women’s championship at 3 p.m. and Men’s championship at 5:30 p.m.

The original playoff field of 32 women’s teams and 32 men’s teams has been whittled down to eight teams in each bracket. Third-round regional playoff games scheduled for March 6 will determine which teams will advance to the state championship semifinals in San Diego.

The broadcast will be available by visiting the women’s or men’s section of www.coasports.org.

Play-by-play and color commentary will be provided by members of the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA), a COA affiliate organization.

Based in Fullerton, California, Stretch Internet produces athletic broadcasts using the latest in Internet technology. Stretch streams its broadcasts over QuickTime Player at rates that allow anyone with Internet access to listen, from the user on the high-bandwidth DSL or cable connection to the user who dials in on a modem connection.
