COA and NATYCAA Announce Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup Award

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA), in association with the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) today released the fall standings of the 2003-04 Pepsi/NATYCAA Cup, State Associations division.

The award recognizes overall athletic excellence, and is modeled after the NACDA Director’s Cup Award. The criteria for the State Associations division were developed by the COA in conjunction with the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA). This is the first year that NATYCAA has sponsored a State Associations division.

Mt. San Antonio College (Walnut, CA) leads in the 2003-04 State Associations Division standings followed closely by Sierra College (Rocklin, CA) and Santa Rosa Junior College (Santa Rosa, CA). A college is awarded points based on its teams' final positions in post-conference competition. Final standings will be announced on June 1, 2004.

The 2003-04 winners will be recognized at the Pepsi/NATYCAA Awards Luncheon at the NATYCAA Convention, June 10-11 at the Wyndham Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Awards will be presented to the top three colleges, and the top 20 schools in the division will receive recognition.

Standings and scoring criteria are posted on the COA website, www.coasports.org and standings will also be available on the NATYCAA website, www.natycaa.com.
