COA and Blue Diamond Growers Renew Partnership

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a partnership renewal with Blue Diamond Growers through the year 2006. The extension marks a milestone for the COA’s corporate partnering program as Blue Diamond is now the longest running partner, having first signed an agreement with the COA in 1997.

The terms of the contract state that Blue Diamond will serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2003, 2004 and 2005 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championships, and will also maintain its designation as the “Official Snack Food of the COA”.

The partnership also provides Blue Diamond with signage rights, public address announcements and print advertising at each COA championship. Blue Diamond will also receive in-venue displays and opportunities for additional on-site promotion.

“Blue Diamond Growers is a true friend of California Community College athletics. As a worldwide entity, Blue Diamond brings a degree of legitimacy to our statewide program. As one of our founding partners in our current program, Blue Diamond will always be held in high regard by the COA’, said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn.

Founded in 1910, Blue Diamond Growers is the world's largest tree nut processing and marketing company. Blue Diamond led the development of California's almond industry from a minor domestic specialty crop to the world leader in almond production and marketing. Headquartered in Sacramento, California, nearly 4000 California almond growers deliver over one-third of California's almonds annually to their cooperative. The crop is marketed to all 50 states and more than 90 foreign countries, making almonds California's largest food export, and the sixth largest U.S. food export. Blue Diamond also maintains retail stores in Chico and Modesto.
