. . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced an agreement with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network/The Waltos Group through June 2004. The terms of the agreement state that NMFN/The Waltos Group will be designated as the “Exclusive Financial Services Provider” of the COA and California Community Colleges athletics.
Based in Newport Beach, CA, the NMFN/The Waltos Group offers products for personal and business planning in the areas of life and disability income and long-term care insurance, annuities and investments.
“Through this new agreement with the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics, we will be able to introduce many promising and talented students in California to a potential career in financial services,” said Bob Waltos, CLU, ChFC, CFP, managing partner, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network/The Waltos Group. “We also appreciate the opportunity to educate faculty and students about long-term care insurance and how it fits into a prudent personal retirement plan.”
The agreement is built around a unique, one-year pilot program featuring COA member colleges of the Orange Empire Conference. The COA will assist Northwestern Mutual Financial Network/The Waltos Group in educating the community about the two specific programs to the California community college demographic. The first is Northwestern Mutual Financial Network /The Waltos Group’s internship program, which offers students real-world experience in the financial services market. The COA will also co-host a series of workshops designed to inform students and faculty about the long-term care insurance that is offered through the Network.
“This agreement is an example of the COA's continuing development efforts to sponsor external programs that directly benefit student athletes and faculty at our member colleges. We look forward to promoting their internship program and long-term care insurance at community colleges in California,” said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn. "We are hopeful that this agreement will be expanded next year to include additional conference members and their colleges.”
The agreement also provides Northwestern Mutual Financial Network /The Waltos Group with signage rights, public address announcements and print advertising at all COA championship events. Northwestern Mutual Financial Network/The Waltos Group will also receive in-venue displays and opportunities for additional on-site promotion.
