. . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a new partnership with Wilson Sporting Goods through the year 2005. The terms of the agreement state that Wilson will be designated as the “Official Ball” of the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship.
“We are delighted with this partnership,” said COA associate commissioner Stu Van Horn. “Wilson has a quality product and the adoption was endorsed by various entities within the COA family,” he said.
Chicago-based Wilson Sporting Goods Company is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sports equipment. The company designs, manufactures and distributes advanced equipment that helps all players improve their performance. Wilson’s core categories include Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Bats, Volleyball, Soccer, Youth Sports, Uniforms/Apparel, Golf, Footwear, and Racquet Sports (Tennis, Racquetball, Squash, Badminton and Platform Tennis).
The partnership provides Wilson with signage rights, public address announcements and print advertising at the COA’s football title game.
Wilson will provide the NCAA 1001 ball as the official ball of the championship game.
“Wilson is thrilled to partner with the COA,” said Bill Butler, Western Regional Sales Manager for Wilson Sporting Goods. “We are committed to making the best quality game football and appreciate the opportunity to align ourselves with such a great organization.”
The COA also announced that the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Football Championship will return to Bakersfield College’s Memorial Stadium in 2003. The game, which features the state’s top-ranked teams, will be played on December 13 and is set for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off.
“Bakersfield’s Memorial Stadium is one of the premier football facilities in the country and the COA is delighted to be returning to this venue. The support of college staff enabled the COA to provide a quality, first-class experience last year and we look forward to an even better student athlete experience in 2003,” said Van Horn.
