COA Checks-In for Three-Year Stay with Choice Hotels

SACRAMENTO, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a new partnership with Choice Hotels International (NYSE: CHH) through the year 2005. The terms of the agreement state that Choice Hotels will be designated as the “Official Hotel Partner of the COA”.

Choice Hotels International franchisees more than 5,000 hotels, inns, all-suite hotels and resorts open or under development in 46 countries under the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Mainstay Suites, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn brand names.

Choice Hotels will provide the COA athletic teams with a centralized number for hotel reservations and discounted room rates at more than 3,300 properties throughout the United States and Canada.

Choice Hotels will be entitled to print and stadium advertising at each of the COA’s 23 championship events and year-round exposure on the COA’s official website, www.coasports.org. Choice Hotels will also be designated as a sponsor of the COA’s Hall of Fame banquet, held annually in conjunction with the COA Convention.

“This agreement represents a tremendous opportunity for Choice Hotels to drive significant business to our franchisees throughout California and the nation,” said Wayne Wielgus, senior vice president, marketing, for Choice Hotels. “We look forward to working with the COA to accommodate its members’ travel needs.”

“This is an historic agreement for the COA and represents another step in our continuing efforts to secure partners that have a strong commitment to education,” said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn. “Choice Hotels fits the bill perfectly as they are committed to providing discounts to our sport teams and their sports reservation services will allow our member coaches to access professional support for their travel needs, giving them more time to focus on coaching and not administrative details. The Choice Hotels partnership is another example of the COA's commitment to securing partners that enable our member colleges to save time and money, an especially critical component given the budget crisis in California.”
