NATIONAL CONSORTIUM FOR ACADEMICS AND SPORTS
NCAS, an affiliate partner of the COA, recently announced plans for their 20th annual conference, scheduled for February 21-23, 2006 in Orlando, FL. The conference features the 2005 Giant Steps Awards banquet, NCAS Founder's awards luncheon, and a hall of fame induction ceremony. COA CHAMPIONSHIP FESTIVAL PHOTOGRAPHY
The inaugural COA 2005-06 fall championships sports festival launched in mid-November with five championships, and continues on December 8-11, 2005 with five additional state championships. The championship festival concludes in March 2006 with men and women's state basketball championships. During the events, the COA has provided professional photography services and hundreds of pictures are available for viewing and purchase via www.printroom.com/pro/fotopros of all games, meets, and matches. The festival features ten days of competition, over 70 participating teams, nearly 1,600 student athletes, and 600 coaches, administrators and support staff. The Festival anticipates exceeding 1,500 room nights, consuming 9,000 meals, and generating an estimated 20,000 fans. Organizers predict nearly $1.2 million in direct economic impact for the greater Fresno region.
