Introduction of new athletic administrators

 

Membership/Treasures report---Dale Murray

 

104 paid memberships

Membership dues:  $55 Individual/$80 Institution

Account balance $5—thanks to John Keever

 

President’s Report---Jean Snuggs

 

CCCADA web site to be integrated on the COA site to improve continuity and access.

Continue the Mentor Program started by Keith Calkins. 

Conference representative would mentor new athletic administrators.

If they cannot serve, they would assign a mentor from their conference.

 

COA Spring Convention / Reno / March 20th to 22nd ---Jean Snuggs

Theme will be 25th Anniversary of Women in Sport.

CCCADA will provide a table highlighting past athletic administrator.  Members were encouraged to provide photos and information to match the occasion.

Athletic Director of the Year will be consistent with the theme of the convention.

Nomination forms were distributed and members were asked to nominate individuals accordingly.

Recommend to the COA that more time and attention be given to the Scholar Athletes and the Scholar Team awards.

Will meet with appropriate individuals with the 3C4A and COA to make recommendations.

Discussion on changing format for Awards Banquet and Golf to accommodate the needs of both events.

Based upon 2001 surveys, information presented by members of the Association seemed to be the most popular.

CCCADA/COA Subcommittee---Mike McPherson/Stu Van Horn

Will continue efforts to coordinate ideas with corporate partners through continued communication between both groups.

 

Management Council Openings

Athletic administrators were encouraged to submit their names for vacant position.  Applications due to the COA by February 15, 2002.  Must be to Jean by December 1, 2001.

 

Legislation

Who should vote?  If you do not have the sport are you expected not to vote?  Discussion followed.  Majority agreed that members could vote on all legislation.

Consent Agenda was approved.

Competition Issues

C1 was tabled

C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, C8, C9, C10, C11, C12, C13, C14, C15, C16, C17 and C18 passed.

C19 failed.

 

 

Eligibility Issues

E2, E3 and E7 passed

E1, E3, E4 and E5 failed

 

Open Positions

CSM--Women’s H20 Polo and Swimming Coach, Full-Contract Position and Dance, Full Contract Position

Skyline College—Baseball Coach/Physical Education, Full-Contract Position

Yuba College— Women’s Basketball or Softball Coach/Physical Education Full-Contract Position.

Santa Ana College—Athletic Director

San Diego Mesa College—Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Basketball, Assistant Football (three positions) / Physical Education Full-Contract Positions.

Fullerton College—Strength Conditioning/Women’s Tennis Full-Contract Position.

 

Other Issues

Establishing competition start dates to accompany sport start dates.

 Terms of Management Council members when they acquire positions before the end of an existing term.
