MOORPARK COLLEGE
TAKES EARLY LEAD

In the first of two rounds on the opening day of the COA State Wrestling Championships, being held at Fresno City College, Moorpark College has staked an early lead with 10 team points, The first round consisted of wrestlers not seeded first or second from the north or south, while the second round will include the quarter-finals as well as the first consolation round. Then, on the second day, the tournament will conclude with the consolation rounds, as well as the championships of each of the 10 weight classifications.

The Raiders jumped out to their early lead, as they recorded two pins, with three team points, as well as a technical fall, which garnered the team two team points. The Raiders won five of their eight matches this morning and have another wrestler who automatically advanced to the second round. Santa Ana College is currently in second place with seven team points, while Palomar College is third with six team points.

The second round of action gets underway at 3:30 on Friday afternoon, with early action slated for 11:00 on Saturday morning.
