LASERS GET BY MUSTANGS, MOVE ON TO STATE FINAL

IRVINE, CALIF. - Sophomore middle blocker Stefani Clark led a balanced Lasers attack with 17 kills to propel South region #2-seed Irvine Valley to a 31-29, 30-17, 31-33, 30-27 win over the North's top-seeded San Joaquin Delta in the second semifinal match at the 2003 California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics Women's Volleyball Championships in Hart Gymnasium on the campus of Irvine Valley College.

Fellow middle blocker Katie Martinez added 15 kills and six blocks for Irvine Valley while Audrey Sipkovich tossed in 14 and four blocks and Kim Mattis added 12 kills and 12 digs. Katie King guided the offense with 53 assists and 13 digs while freshman libero Nicole Moon led all players with 19 digs.

Cassie Sharp led all players with 26 kills to go along with 15 digs for the Mustangs (20-3) while Cindy Staton added 23 kills and 13 digs. Jennifer Emerson and Katie Hoag combined to dish out 60 assists and post 18 digs.

Irvine Valley (19-4) sets up an all-Orange Empire Conference championship match tomorrow afternoon against 10-time defending state champion Golden West at 1:30 p.m.
