Debi
Schafer-Braun
Debi Schafer-Braun was a member of the Community College Women's Volleyball
Coaches Association and the Head Women's Volleyball Coach at De Anza College
for sixteen years. During her tenure she led the Dons to 13 Conference
Championships and four times Runner-up to the State Finals. During this
span her over-all record was 210-32 and her conference record was 183-14.
She received the Conference Coach of the Year award in 1982, 1983, 1984
and 1988. She served on the seeding committee for the CCCWVCA and held
the office of Regional Representative and Conference Representative. She
was able to move 50% of her players on to 4-year universities, which is
quite an accomplishment.
Debi has received
many awards during her twenty-eight years as an educator at De Anza College.
She has been inducted into the Women's Basketball Coach's Hall of fame;
she received the President's Award at De Anza College in 2002 and also
received the SCOPE Physical Educator of the Year in 2002.
She has been part
of the teaching division of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA)
since 1998. Debi will also be receiving the 2004 Distinguished Educator
Award this December at De Anza College for her contributions made during
28 years of dedicated service to the students at De Anza College. She
is presently teaching full time at De Anza College and is married to Tom
Braun.
