MT. SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE CAPTURES SECOND CONSECUTIVE HYUNDAI-COA

WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

At Monterey Country Club

Palm Desert, CA

 

Mt. San Antonio College captured its second consecutive Hyundai-California Community College Women's Golf Championship at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert.

The Mounties beat out three other colleges as the posted a two-day, 36-hole total of 658, 31 strokes better than runner-up College of the Canyons and 38 strokes ahead of third-place Foothill College

Linda Fu led the Mounties with a two-day total of 159, including an open-round of 78. Mt. San Antonio, however, won the championship as golfers two through five all managed to post scores in the 160s — Rosalin Chung (167), Shelly Shelton (167), Kim Melrose (168) and Kathy Mitchell (168).

Cypress College's Russamee Gullyanamitta won the individual championship by shooting back-to-back scores in the 70s, including a final round 73 over the tight Ted Robinson designed course. He two-day total was 151, just one shot better than Fullerton's Hye Yoon Juan (81-71).
