1996 Pepsi Scholar Athletes Yvonne M. Goodson, Feather River College Yvonne was an honor student who excelled in both volleyball and basketball at Feather River College. While maintaining a 4.0 GPA over two years, Goodson was selected to the All-Golden Valley Conference first team after helping her volleyball team to state playoffs with a 15-3 record. Second in the state in blocks per game during her sophomore year, Goodson led her team with excellent blocking and hitting skills. On the basketball court, Goodson was a standout on a team reaching the state quarterfinals and was selected to the Golden Valley All-conference first team twice. Off the courts, Goodson served a secretary for her Phi Theta Kappa chapter representing the honor society at the international convention in Washington, DC. Her additional honors include the National Dean's List, Feather River College Foundation Scholarship, Classified Book Scholarship and the Faculty Scholarship. Charles J. Malki, Saddleback College Charles maintained a 3.93 GPA while achieving All-America status in 11 swim events and qualifying for State Championships in 13 events. While acquiring six individual 2nd place finishes at the Orange Empire Conference Championships, Malki was also a member of eight relay teams including the 1996 conference champion 200-yard freestyle relay team. Away from the pool, Malki received a Biological Sciences scholarship from Saddleback College, has served as vice-president of the Medical Allied Health Profession Society, as a representative to the Inter-Club Council, and is involved with the Environmental Club.
