2000 Mission Conference "Players of the Week" — November 18

Quarterbacks

El Camino’s Robert Hodge (6’ 0", 185, So., QB, Mira Costa) passed for 281 yards and a TD (39) on 20 of 37 passing. He also rushed eight times for 29 yards and a TD (5).

Fullerton’s Jeff Crook (6’ 3", 210, So., QB, Cypress) had 294 total yards of offense against Santa Ana. He passed for 240 yards and two TDs and rushed for 54 yards.

Saddleback’s Jason Whieldon (6’ 1", 185, Fr., QB, Orange Lutheran) passed for 244 yards, a TD (18) and 2 INTs on 19 of 28 passing.

Santa Ana’s Grant Wagner (6’ 1", 190, So., QB, Esparanza) passed for 225 yards, two TDs and one INT on 17 of 25 passing.

Running Backs

Pasadena City’s Julian Lambert (5’ 9", 170, Fr., RB, Westlake) rushed for season high 220 yards and two TDs (21, 2). He also returned three kickoffs for 64 yards and caught a pass for 4 yards as he tallied 288 all-purpose yards against Long Beach.

Palomar’s Josh Galae’i (6’ 1", 235, So., RB, Oceanside) rushed for 184 yards and two TDs on 14 carries against Golden West.

Orange Coast’s James Dawkins (6’ 1", 185, So., RB, Estancia) carried the ball 18 times for 133 yards and three TDs (44, 4, 51) against Saddleback. He also returned two kickoffs for 34 yards.

Santa Ana’s Brandon Fisher (6’ 0", 215, Fr., RB, El Dorado) had 15 carries for 126 yards and a TD.

Riverside’s Marcus Guzman (5’ 11", 180, Fr., RB, Norco) rushed for 119 yards and a TD (1) on 41 attempts versus Cerritos.

Cerritos’ Manny Murillo (5’ 8", 195, So., RB, St. Paul) carried 16 times for 106 yards and a TD (6).

Long Beach’s Shung Peoples (5’ 10", 180, So., RB, Lakewood) rushed for 105 yards on 19 carries.

Receivers

Pasadena City’s Gary Coleman (5’ 10", 175, So., WR, Southridge (FL)) had 9 catches for 121 yards, a TD (17) and a 2-pt. conversion

Saddleback’s Keller Christensen (5’10", 200, Fr., Madras (OR)) caught eight passes for 131 yards and rushed 15 times for 38 yards and a TD (1). He ended the day with 169 all-purpose yards.

Santa Ana’s Derrick Barnes (6’ 0", 185, So., WR, Saddleback) caught nine passes for 106 yards and a TD.

Long Beach’s Clint Bingham (5’ 11", Fr., WR, Interlake (WA)) caught five passes for 100 yards and a TD (47). Bingham also returned four punts for 32 yards and two kickoffs for 67 to total 199 all-purpose yards.

Riverside’s Aaron Karmann (5’ 8", 195, So., WR, Riverside Poly) had seven catches for 99 yards.

El Camino’s Dennis Jones (6’ 1", 190, So., WR, Redondo Union) had six catches for 96 yards and a TD (39) against Mt. SAC.

Palomar’s Deondre Alexander 5’ 11", 170, So., WR, Fontana) had seven catches for 80 yards and two TDs.

Defense

Fullerton’s Todd Frazier (6’ 2", 245, So., MLB, Troy) had a team-high 13 tackles (6 unassisted) against Santa Ana.

Pasadena City’s Jeff Runnells (6’ 3", 210, Fr., LB, San Dimas) had 12 tackles (10 unassisted), recovered two fumbles, three QB hurries and an 11-yard tackle for loss.

Saddleback’s Nick Diaz (5’ 11", 180, So., DB, Clovis) tallied 12 tackles (5 unassisted), broke up two passes and forced two QB hurries.

Cerritos’ John Lopez (6’ 0", 230, Fr., LB, St. Paul) had 11 tackles, (4 unassisted), two fumble recoveries and a tackle for loss.

Fullerton’s Antwain Carter (5’ 10", 245, Fr., LB, Artesia) recorded 11 tackles (3 unassisted), a sack and a fumble recovery.

Santa Ana’s Mark Cook (6’ 0", 205, Fr., DB, Kennedy) was in on nine tackles (5 unassisted) and had an INT.

Saddleback’s Jake Hollingsworth (6’ 2", 235, So., DE, Ridgefield (WA)) posted nine tackles (two unassisted) and two QB hurries.

Cerritos’ Philip Perry (6’ 2", 240, Fr., LB, Lakewood) tallied eight tackles, 2 QB hurries, 2 tackle for losses and returned an INT 29 yards for a TD.

Pasadena City’s Sean Phillips (6’ 2", 240, Fr., LB, Pasadena) recorded seven tackles, a sack, three QB hurries and returned an interception 62-yards.

Cerritos’ Hendrick Robertson (5’ 9", 175, So., Lakewood) had six tackles and a 38-yard INT return for a TD against Riverside.

Pasadena City’s Aaron Taylor (6’ 1", 205, Fr., DB, Long Beach (MS)) had six tackles and two of PCC’s four INTs against Long Beach

Golden West’s Enrique Lopez (5’ 10", 195, So., DB, Santiago) intercepted his sixth INT of the season.

Kick Returns/All-Purpose/Total Offense

Long Beach’s Clinton Sanders (6’ 2", 205, So., QB/WR, El Camino) completed 17 of his 33 passes for 259 yards, a TD (47) and four INTs. He also rushed for 104 yards and three TDs (24, 31, 13) as he finished with 363 total yards of offense.

Santa Ana’s Darnell Smith (6’ 0", 180, Fr., DB/KR, San Marcos) returned 3 kickoffs for 80 yards, intercepted a pass and broke up 3.

Punting/Kicking

El Camino’s David Davis (5’ 11", 155, So., PK, Bishop Montgomery) was 2-of-2 on field goals (37, 27) and 3-of-3 on PATs vs Mt. SAC.

Saddleback’s Jesse Harmon (6’ 0", 200, Fr., P, Mission Viejo) averaged 45.5 yards per punt on four attempts. He had boots of 53, 49, 48 and 32 while pinning OCC inside its own 20 three times.

Pasadena’s Jose Arroyo (5’ 11", 180, So., P, Van Nuys) averaged 41.3 yards per punt on four attempts against Long Beach.
