Sacramento, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a new corporate partnership with Russell Athletic. The terms of the agreement provide Russell with the designation of "Exclusive Uniform of the COA and California Community College athletics" through the 2004 calendar year.
The world’s largest supplier of team uniforms, Russell Athletic, a division of Russell Corporation, has made high quality merchandise since 1902. Based in Atlanta, GA, Russell Athletic is the Official Uniform Supplier to 15 Major League Baseball teams, outfits over 100 D-1 college teams, USA Baseball and the United States Professional Volleyball league, and is the Official Uniform of Little League Baseball. Additionally, Russell Athletic is an Official Sponsor of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
"Russell Athletic shares the commitment of the Commission on Athletics to provide its member institutions and their 22,000 athletes the very best athletic uniforms possible." said Rod McGeachy, Vice President of Marketing for Russell Athletic Team Sports. "We are looking forward to working with each individual college to provide the style and performance features their athletes need to perform at their best."
Russell will be featured at COA championship events by way of signage rights, public address announcements and print advertising. The uniform supplier will make its debut as a COA corporate partner at the California Community College Women’s and Men’s Basketball Championships, March 14-17 at the University of the Pacific Spanos Center in Stockton, CA.
In addition, Russell will serve as a major sponsor of the COA Hall of Fame Banquet and the Student Celebration Luncheon. Both events take place during the COA Annual Convention, held this year March 20-22 at the Peppermill Hotel in Reno, NV.
“This partnership with Russell is very important to the COA and the California Community College Athletic Director’s Association”, said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn. “It represents our first partnership to jointly share in sponsor servicing needs. We look forward to the challenge of servicing Russell as our official game and practice uniform supplier.”
