COA and USA Water Polo Enter Three Year Partnership

Sacramento, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics (COA) today announced a new partnership with the California Zones of USA Water Polo. The agreement designates the California zones of USA Water Polo as official sponsor of both the women's and men's Hyundai California Community College Water Polo Championships through the 2003 season.

The partnership provides USA Water Polo with signage rights, public address announcements and print advertising at the state championships.

"On behalf of the four California zones of US Water Polo, we are happy to join with the California Community Colleges as a sponsor of the California Community College Water Polo Championships," said Andy Burke, Pacific Zone Chairman. "We appreciate the work of the Commission on Athletics in also supporting this program. This is a 3-year commitment by the California Zones to the program, and shows the importance that we in US Water Polo place upon this outstanding program within our sport. It is our hope that the athletes will play within the rules of sportsmanship and fair play that will reflect upon themselves, their team, their school and the sport of water polo. "

The 2001 Hyundai California Community College Water Polo Championships will be held November 15-17 at Merced College in Merced, California. The state tournament features the top eight teams advancing from regional championship play in both women's and men's competition.
