NOTES: #1 ranked
Ventura College ended the first day in second place behind defending State Champion
Golden West. Ventura is the heavy favorite to bring home its first title and
Sophomore All American Cheyne OGorman did defend his 2004 State Title in the
50 Freestyle, however the Rustlers, who are trying to win their 13th State Championship,
placed four swimmers right behind OGorman in the 50 free to make up the points
and hold onto their first day lead. The Rustlers domination and depth in the
sprints also helped them take down the first State Record of the meet. The quartet
of Pavol Valovic, Drew Vyn, Erik Chrisman and, Matt Sullivan posted a time of
1:22.50 in the 200 Freestyle Relay to br eak the 2000 record of 1:22.80 also
set by Golden West.

both #3 Ventura and #2 Sierra. Last year, the Bear Cubs won their first State
Championship since 1983 and there lead of nearly forty points gives them a head
start on the programs fourth Women Swimming and Diving State Title (1979, 1983,
2004).
