COA/Hyundai Basketball Championships to be televised by Fox Sports Net

Sacramento, CA . . . The California Community College Commission on Athletics in conjunction with VIMA Productions, its broadcast rights production firm, announced today that Fox Sports Net has agreed to air the championship games of the Hyundai-California Community College Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships Presented by the Stockton Sports Commission.

The championship finals will be aired by Fox Sports Net West 2 on Monday, March 12 at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The women’s game will air at 5:00 p.m. immediately followed by the men’s final at 7:00 p.m. Fox Sports Net Bay Area will air the men’s game on Tuesday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. and the women’s final on Saturday, March 17 at 11 a. m.

Fox Sports Net West 2 reaches four million homes and Fox Sports Bay Area reaches three million homes. Together, the two affiliates cover the states of California, Nevada and Hawaii. In addition, the regional telecasts may also be viewed on DirecTV satellite services.

"This is another key step in our continued efforts to increase our visibility, brand recognition of our programs and our sponsors and spark fan interest," said COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn. "Our football telecast in December 2000 was well-received and we look forward to showcasing the high caliber of our intercollegiate basketball programs in March," he said.

Hal Ramey, sports director of KCBS radio in San Francisco is the play-by-play announcer and he’ll share duties with commenator’s Mary Murphy of Fox Sports Net and Dave Cox of Bay TV and Cable One. The telecasts are produced by VIMA Productions and directed by Jim Risinger. Van Horn and COA Commissioner Dr. Joanne Fortunato are executive producers.
