Fact Sheet for the 2000 Hyundai-California Community College Football

State Championship Game Presented by Blue Diamond Growers

 

Date: Saturday, December 9, 2000

Site: Mineral King Bowl, Visalia (formerly known as Sunkist Stadium)

Time: Kickoff 1 p.m., team access 10 a.m.

Teams: The best community college football teams from the northern and southern portion of the state

Format: Participants decided by "Power Rating" formula devised by the California Community College Football Coaches Association following completion of regional bowl games December 2.

Sponsors: Hyundai Motor America is the statewide title sponsor. Blue Diamond Growers in the Game Presentation sponsor. Pepsi-Cola is a statewide sponsor. Spalding Sporting Goods is the official game ball provider. Other sponsors include adidas, Pepsi, JustBalls, Level Edge.

Sanction: The championship is sanctioned by the California Community Colleges Commission on Athletics.

Operations: COA Associate Commissioner Stu Van Horn is the game director. The Game Operations Committee, co-chaired by Van Horn and Stan Simpson, conducts game management.

Publicity: Credentialing and on-site media relations to be directed by COA Sports Information Director Jack Shinar. Glenn Haller, Antelope Valley College, is advance publicist and will also handle game-day statistics.
