VIDAL,
SANTA MONICA COLLEGE - ASSISTANT COACH

Ralph had a fine high school
football and track career in Los Angeles. He played fullback at Loyola High
School and ran the 440 in track.
Transferring to UCLA he
earned his bachelor of science degree, and later earned his masters degree from
Azusa Pacific University.
Ralph began his coaching
career at Bell High School in 1965. He transferred to Gardena High School in
1969 where his team won the Los Angeles City Championship twice, 1969 and 1974.
He again changed schools in 1975 and this time became the assistant coach at
Santa Monica College.
While he was the assistant
coach at Santa Monica their team went to the Avocado Bowl three times, the K
Swiss Bowl, The Southern California Bowl, the South Bay Classic, and the Peach
Bowl. Ralph became the head coach at Santa Monica in 1988 and held that position
until 1990. During those 3 years he took his team to the Western State Bowl
and the K Swiss Bowl. Then from 1990 until 2000, Ralph returned to the position
of assistant coach. During his years at Santa Monica he also ran a very successful
track program.
Ralph and his wife Jeanie
have been married for 39 years and have 2 children Jamie, and John.
