Jeff has played football
all of his football career within 70 miles of where he grew up in Gilroy with
the exception of the 5 years he played in the Canadian League. He played his
high school football at Gilroy High, and then played one year at Gavilan College,
for his dad Bob Garcia, where he threw 22 touchdown passes. He was All State
in 1989 at Gavilan and was honorable mention All American.
He then transferred to San
Jose State University and played there 3 years. Jeff has the career record of
6,545 for passing yards in 505 completions. His 3 year Q.B. rating was an outstanding
129.4. He also rushed for an additional 724 yards for a total of 7,274 yards.
After finishing his career at San Jose State, he played in the 1993 East-West
Shrine game and was voted the Most Valuable Player. \
He played professionally
in Canada for Calgary and led them to the Grey Cup in 1998 and was the MVP in
that game, which is the Canadian League version of their Super Bowl. During
his career in Canada he passed for 16,449 yards with 111 touchdowns and only
52 interceptions, and a 61.7% average, and he rushed for 2,370 yards.
In 1999 Jeff signed with
the San Francisco Forty Niners. At San Francisco Jeff has passed for 13,704
yards and 95 touchdowns. He has completed 62.1 % of his passes. In addition
he has gained 1,252 yards running with the ball for 14 touchdowns and a 4.1
yard average. Jeff has completed over 60% of his passes in professional football.
Jeff’s ability has been noticed by his peers and he has been voted into the
Pro Bowl 3 consecutive times.
Jeff continues to be visible
in his community of Gilroy by helping with youth activities and promoting Gavilan
College. He has raised over $250,000 for the Hispanic Scholarship Foundation
and in the last 3 years the foundation has awarded 100 $2,500 scholarships to
worthy young Hispanic students. He is also hosting the first annual South County
Jeff Garcia Open Golf Tournament that will donate funds to the Make A wish Foundation,
Gilroy High School, and Gavilan College.

Linda, and his 2 sisters Melissa, and Jena are his inspiration.
