Women's Soccer "Player
of the Week"
MODESTO JUNIOR COLLEGE freshman LUCERO VILLASENOR (Ceres High School) scored
all three goals in the Pirates’ 3-0 conference win at Taft (Oct. 20). Villasenor
ranks third on the team with 18 points on the season (7 goals, 4 assists). Modesto
(14-0-1, 3-0-0, No. 6 nation) and Fresno (14-2-0, 3-0-0, No. 7 nation), tied
atop the CVC standings, square-off on Tuesday (Oct. 24, at MJC).
Men's Soccer "Player of the Week"
TAFT COLLEGE sophomore forward JESUS CISNEROS (Delano High School) recorded
a goal and an assist last week for the Cougars. Cisneros scored his ninth goal
of the season in a 6-1 non-conference win at Delta (Oct. 17). His fifth assist
of the year came in Taft’s 1-1 tie at Fresno (Oct. 20) in a match-up of
the top two CVC teams. Cisneros ranks third among CVC players in points (23).
Taft (15-2-1, 2-0-1, No. 4 nation) leads Fresno (11-1-6, 1-0-2, No. 3 nation)
by two points in the CVC standings.
