Central Valley Conference Basketball
"Players of the Week"


MEN: Fresno City College, PHILLIP MATCHAM (Freshman Guard, 5-10, 170, Clovis East High School) scored a combined 45 points — all from 3-pointers — in a pair of wins for the Rams. Matcham poured in 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting from behind the arc in Wednesday’s 146-100 rout over Porterville College. He scored 24 of those points (on eight 3-pointers) in the first half as Fresno jumped out to an 80-41 lead. He also had 3 assists and 2 steals. In Saturday’s 93-77 win at West Hills, Matcham drained 6-of-13 shots from 3-point land, finishing with 18 points (2 rebounds, steal). Fresno (5-1 CVC, 22-5 overall) visits first-place College of the Sequoias (6-0, 17-8) this Wednesday.

WOMEN: Modesto College, DIANA FELIX (Sophomore Guard, 5-9, Modesto High School) scored 21 points, had 10 assists, and 9 rebounds in Wednesday’s 86-67 win over then first-place Fresno City College. On Saturday, Felix scored 15 points, with 9 rebounds, and 9 assists in the Pirates’ 67-56 win at Porterville College. She led Modesto in points and assists both games, while coming very close to posting a pair of triple-double performances. Modesto (4-1 CVC, 19-6 overall) enters this week in a first-place tie with Reedley.
