Central Valley Conference Basketball
"Players of the Week"

MEN: Reedley College, DAVID MORENO (Sophomore Forward, 6-6, 210, Freeport High
School, Roosevelt, NY) recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Tigers to a 76-58 upset-win over host Modesto College (previously ranked No. 12 in Northern California) on Saturday. Moreno scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the second half, on way to registering his first career double-double. He also scored 9 points in Wednesday’s loss to West Hills College.

WOMEN: Modesto Junior College: BRITNEY BORBA (Freshman Guard, 5-8, Patterson High School, Patterson, Calif.) posted career-high scoring nights of 19 and 20 points in a pair of conference wins for the Pirates. Borba connected on 9-of-15 shots from 3-point range in the two games combined. In Wednesday’s 82-51 victory at College of the Sequoias, Borba (19 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists) was 4-of-5 from behind the arc, including a 30-footer before the halftime buzzer to give Modesto the lead for good. On Saturday, Borba came off the bench to spark the Pirates to a 76-68 win over visiting Merced College, making 5-of-10
three-point attempts (20 pts, 4 rbs, 2 asts, 1 stl). Modesto snapped a long losing streak to Merced; and with a record of 17-5, the Pirates are off to their best start in program history.
