Last Week:

Volleyball: The # 6 seeded Panthers traveled to # 3 DeAnza College on Saturday evening for a second round play-off game. SCC came away with a three set victory 30-28, 32-30, and 30-22 to advance to the third round Tuesday evening at West Valley College in Saratoga. The winner of this contest moves onto the State Championship Finals in Irvine on December 6th and 7th.

Women’s Basketball: The Panthers traveled to Los Altos Hills for a contest against # 14 state ranked Foothill College. SCC was held to just 12 points in the first half but rallied in the second to beat the Owls 49-48. Athena Padilla led the squad with 21 points, while Alicia DaOro chipped in 10.

Saturday, Sac City hosted The College of Marin, currently ranked #14 in the North. The Panthers held Marin to just 17 points in the second half winning their third straight game 88-59. Freshman guard Gina Perry led the scoring with 21 points. Alicia DaOro scored 16, pulled down 6 rebounds and added 4 steals, while Athena Padilla and Provi Castro each contributed with 11 points.

SCC (3-3) travels to Visalia for a four-day tournament beginning on Thursday afternoon. The Panthers will open up with the # 1 ranked team in the state, Mt San Antonio who is currently undefeated at 5-0.

Men’s Basketball: The Panthers hosted Chabot College on Saturday and came away with a thrilling victory over the Knights. Sac City fell behind early going into half time losing 62-44. In the second period the Panthers battled back, with the game clock ticking down Victor Nance hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to win the game for the Panthers 98-96. Nance hit a total of seven 3’s in the contest and finished with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Eric Wright scored 24 while pulling down 9 boards and Chuka Torres chipped in 13.

The Panthers play in the American River Tournament and open up against Santa Rosa on Thursday at 2:00 at ARC.
