Last Week:

Men’s Track and Field: The Panthers took first place overall at the Fresno Invitational last Saturday at Fresno City College. SCC compiled 81 points, outscoring second place Fresno City College by 14.

The Panthers had three first place finishes; Cedric Ellis won the 400 M Run at 48.40, Gabe Hatchett won the 400 M Hurdles at 54.40 and the 4X400 M Relay team winning their race at 3:21.20.

Second place finishers include; Shane Mervau in the Shot Put (46’7”), Mark Paige in both the 100 M Sprint (10.69) and the 200 M Sprint (21.51), Brett Silverman in the Triple Jump (45’10”) and the 4X100 M Relay team (42.51).

Also, Paul Mateoc finished in third place in the Triple Jump at 45’5”.

The Panthers travel to the City by the Bay on Saturday to participate in the Johnny Mathis Invitational held at San Francisco State University.

Women’s Track and Field: The Panthers had another outstanding meet this weekend at the Hornet Invitational at Sacramento State where everyone that competed achieved a personal record (PR).

LaSadies McClain shattered the school record in the 200 M sprint with a time of 23.80. The previous record (24.12) was set in 1985 by Monica Taylor.

LaKischa Fontenot won the High Jump competition at 1.63m, while the 4X100 M Relay Team placed second (47.46) and the 4X400 M Relay finished in third place (3:53.55). Other top performances include; Faunn Davis who placed third in the 100 M Hurdles (14.57) and 13th in the 100 M Dash (12.73), Ashley Nunes finished 11th in the 400 M Hurdles (66.33), Jimia White placed 12th in the 100 M Dash, while Pam Robertson (60.80) and Nicole Matthias (60.85) finished 12th and 13th in the 400 M Dash.

The Panthers travel to San Francisco on Saturday to compete in the Johnny Mathis Invitational.
